Class of 1983
Nevada Union Miners
Class of '83
Welcome to our Class Website

The 25 year reunion was so much fun!  I really tried to reach all of you out there....If you weren't contacted for the reunion, it's because we either rec'd bounced-back email, and/or returned mail.  It was not for lack of effort.  The reunion info was left with the high-school office, posted on classmates.com, reunion.com and nevadaunionalumni.com - postcards were mailed to last known addresses, emails were sent,  I put it on KNCO radio,  and asked everyone I knew to spread the word.  If you would like to be contacted for future events,  PLEASE  continue to update your information as it changes. Thank you.

Please take a moment to look around and be sure to tell a classmate to visit the site and add themselves.

Classmates:  Register here so we can send email or us mail with more information about future reunions and or events!

Message Board:  Leave a comment, suggestion, ask questions.  Share a fond memory, funny story, etc. Get in touch with a long lost friend.

Missing Classmates:  Check this list – see your name?  REGISTER on the classmates page (link on the left or click on Contact Us (link on the left).   See someone whose whereabouts you know?  Please direct them to this site or contact Kasey with their info.

Photo Page:  It’s not a gazillion dollar industry for no reason.  People love their pictures and we love to see them!  Link to upload here.  Got pix from your school days?  Want to post current photos?  Your classmates would enjoy viewing them.  Please identify people in the photo.  Twenty-five years later, our memories (looks) aren't what they used to be.  haha

I saw this on the net and thought I'd share...

How to Overcome Your Class Reunion Angst

By eHow Relationships & Family Editor

It's normal to experience the class reunion jitters. Don't let your insecurities force you to miss what could be the time of your life.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Evening Attire
  • Phone Books
  • Breath Mints
  • Cologne
  • Makeup Kits
  • Perfume
Step1
Take an afternoon or evening to jot down all of your positive school memories, look over photos of old friends and listen to music from your school years.
Step2
Make a mental list of all that you have accomplished and how you have grown through the years.
Step3
Get in touch with at least two former classmates. Reminiscing with old pals will help you to get in the reunion spirit.
Step4
Ask to help with the reunion planning. There's always room for one more planning committee member, and it will help awaken your enthusiasm for the event.
Step5
Arrive in your hometown one day early if you don't live there. Spend quality time visiting your favorite spots, driving around your old neighborhood and dwelling on nostalgia.
Step6
Look your best. Rather than crash dieting, stepping up your health and fitness program several months prior to the reunion will ensure that you look and feel your best.

How to Attend Your Class Reunion

By eHow Holidays & Celebrations Editor

Class reunions are a fabulous way to reminisce with old friends and to gauge your own transformation through life. Make a point of attending and you won't be disappointed.

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Keep in touch with the alumni center and/or reunion committee at your former school via regular address updates. Even if you do not receive update requests, make a point of sending one each time your contact information changes.
Step2
Start a reunion savings fund. Most likely, attending your reunion will require travel and accommodation expenses, in addition to fees for the reunion itself. Planning and saving ahead of time will make the cost as painless as possible.
Step3
Reserve time off from work well in advance to ensure that you are covered for any travel time. Although most reunions occur during the weekend, you may need an extra day for travel.
Step4
Ask the reunion committee about hotel room blocks. You may be able to take advantage of reunion discounts if you stay at the group hotel.
Step5
Make airline reservations well in advance to ensure the best possible rate.

How to Look Good for Your Class Reunion

By eHow Holidays & Celebrations Editor

As a wise philosopher once said, you can only look as good as you feel. Focus on health, fitness and peace of mind to create a radiant impression at your reunion.

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Get plenty of rest and exercise prior to the reunion. In addition to feeling less stressed, you will look more refreshed and vibrant.
Step2
Choose clothes that are youthful but age-appropriate. Wear your most flattering colors and styles.
Step3
Wait until a few days before the event to color hair, get a manicure or get a pedicure. Because of inevitable post-facial breakouts, have a facial approximately two weeks prior to the reunion.
Step4
Practice walking and talking with confidence. Take time to meditate and to imagine yourself as the perfected version of the person that you were in school. Confidence begets attractiveness in everyone.
Step5
Drink lots of water. Water not only hydrates the skin, but also keeps it looking plump and radiant.
Step6
Invite your husband, wife or significant other to join you at the reunion. A person in love always looks good!

Tips & Warnings

  • Forget about trying to fit into that high school prom dress, or your favorite college outfit. Concentrate on feeling comfortable and confident in an outfit that suits you now.

How to Remember Names at Your Class Reunion

By eHow Holidays & Celebrations Editor

After several years, you can easily go blank when faced with a roomful of former classmates. Relax, focus and use these memory techniques for guaranteed success.

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Review your senior yearbook prior to the reunion to brush up on long-forgotten faces and names.
Step2
Use mnemonic devices to remember names. For instance, saying "Patty Devry has bright green eyes" will ensure that you remember Patty's name the next time you run into her.
Step3
Repeat each person's name right after being introduced. Saying someone's name out loud shows them that you are listening, and helps to solidify the name in your memory.
Step4
Make a point of introducing the new person to your significant other, or to another friend, immediately after initial contact.
Step5
Make a list of people as you meet them, with an identifying characteristic following the name. If necessary, refer to this list before you approach anyone that you have already met.

Tips & Warnings

  • When being introduced, relax and listen carefully. Many people tense up and become distracted as they anticipate introducing themselves.
  • Always be certain that you know a person's name before you address them. You'll not soon forget the embarrassment of calling a new acquaintance by the wrong name.

on 2/11/2007 The best way to remember names is the method that memory performers use. The trick is to associate a memorable feature of the person's face (big nose, high forehead, dimples, etc.) with the meaning of the name.

For example, this article mentions remembering classmate Patty Devry's name by simply recalling that she has bright green eyes. This probably will not be enough for you to remember her name, however.

When seeing her in person, you'll certainly notice the eyes, but even if her eyes are striking, seeing them doesn't really provide you with an effective link to her name.

The way a memory performer would do this would be to look at a photo of Patty in the yearbook and clearly imagine millions of green french fries and hamburger patties pouring out of Patty Devry's eyes. Then when seeing Patty (and her striking eyes) at the reunion, the vivid and memorable image of green fries and patties flying would come to mind and provide a very effective "cue" for recalling her name.

In other words, the green hamburger patties in your mental image would give you the first name "Patty", while the green fries would be enough to remind you of the last name, "Devry".

Harry Lorayne, for instance, has used this method in performances for years to very quickly memorize the names of dozens of audience members he has never seen before. Anyone can do it, though, with practice.
